The yumi, an asymmetric Japanese bow, is well-suited for shooting from horseback
irrespective of its length. The skill of archery is as important as the skill of sword or
naginata fighting. A mounted archer may change position more quickly than one
who is not mounted. At the same time, he gets less tired and, after using all of his
arrows, may quickly attack fighting hand-to-hand.
