These Dragoons successfully fought both in mounted and foot order. The
number of Dragoon regiments reached 33. Their most famous action happened
in the battle of Lesnaya village when the first corps of Russia's armed forces
named Corps Volant (French -flying corps) conducted a rapid action over a long
distance and intercepted the Swedish corps under the command of Loewenhaupt
which was defeated despite Swedish numerical superiority. In the battle of Poltava
Dragoons withstood successfully the Swedish cavalry attack at the beginning of the
battle. During the decisive stage of the battle Dragoon regiments overthrew the
Swedish cavalry on the flanks.
