暗影大師採用外置式載彈，載彈量6發，發射精英彈。設計有智慧空保，一次只能發射1枚軟彈。可以SLAMFIRE，下拉滑塊上膛後會自動回彈，此在NERF設計中比較少見!
暗影大師的做大賣點是外觀。
作為一款已經被孩社玩壞了的搭配模式，再出新款只能從外觀下手了。即使不看發射器的聯名遊戲是什麼，任何玩家也都可以輕鬆看出來暗影大師是什麼主題。
因為設計師為陰影大師設計了顯而易見手裡劍裝飾，讓任何玩家都可以看出是忍者主題。
除此之外，設計師還將手柄握把設計為牛皮包裹的刀柄形狀。發射口附近的綠色殼子被設計為（影視創作中的）（女）忍者皮質緊身衣的花紋。從某種角度來看，將握把拉到最後，正好可以連接上鎖鏈。莫非是雙節棍？
